How can I get invoice/special pricing for a new truck purchase?

Price out the vehicle exactly as you want it. All the info is online. Copy and paste and e-mail to any dealers you want to get a price from. Don't waste any time talking to a salesman. After you configure your car, you will know more about it than they do. Most dealers now have an internet department. If they don't respond, go to another dealer.

Don't limit your request to just your hometown dealer.  When you get the best prices, call the dealer closest to home. Tell them how much you love them and would prefer to buy from them etc if they will match or beat the price....NO Haggling, just smart negotiating. You are right in thinking that if the car you want is not inventory, but will be ordered for you, you may be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Dodge help-where's my truck?

If you get the "VON#" and "VIN#" from your dealer, you can e-mail the info directly to "customerassist@daimlerchrysler.com" They will be able to provide you with the most accurate information. As soon as you get a "railcar" number, you can Track it online and you will know when it will be at your dealer's. Anything other than that is a guessing game. I am speaking from personal experience.

Should You  Buy A Used RV?

If you have decided on a used unit, check the tires and brakes. Unless the tires were replaced in the last couple of years they may have UV damage you can't see. There are serial numbers on the tires and with that you can determine their age. The brakes should be checked carefully as well.

Is RV Consumer Group a Reliable Guide?

Yes, this Group sells their CD but you can also find their "green RV rating reference books" in many libraries.  Check by author, J.D. Gallant, who has played a positive and major role in bringing about safety changes in the RV industry.    The data on the CD will allow you to do a search for weights, cargo capacity, expected handling characteristics and more.   It is the most comprehensive compilation of RV Specs I know of. It allowed us to narrow our search and eliminate those that did not fit our requirements. It is worth every penny we paid for it. I know of no other way to compare hundreds or thousands of different models at my fingertips on my computer. If anyone reading this has a better way to acquire the facts, please tell me.  I might add that I get no commission or bonus from RV Consumer Group if you join and buy their CD.

"How to Select, Inspect and Buy an RV:  A Complete Guide" is another of Gallant's helpful guides to buying an RV and can be found on this online bookstore for about $28.  You might also search for this one as a used book.

Buying a Truck via the internet?

I bought my Dodge in Albuquerque NM. An A-1 experience with no salesman BS. Couldn't have been better.

If you are going to have your truck built to your specs, then it is easy to check. Most dealers now have an Internet Sales person. You can email the specs and request a price. You may be surprised. Be sure to check all rebates which are not always equal in all states. If you get a satisfactory price, don't hesitate to contact a dealer closer to you and say "This is what I have, I would like to buy from you, will you match it?"

In response to a new Dodge Ram Diesel 3500 buyer

Congratulations! Here is a link that you will be interested in. TDR This site is dedicated to RAM/CUMMINS. You will find tons of useful info for your new truck. I have been a member since 1995 and it has saved me lots of grief and $$$.

Purchasing a 5th Wheel - Is factory warranty available only in a new unit

Not necessarily valid.

We bought our Excel Ltd that had been used for 9 mos. We received the balance of the Factory warranty, 15 Months. So in our case the warranty was transferred. It is worth inquiring about as our "used" trailer was like new in all respects and the savings were significant.
