Excel Factory Service Experience:

Photos of Excel slide repair for stress cracks

  • April 2006 -  This time we dealt with the new Service Manager, Jack Yenne.  He was very knowledgeable and supportive from the first phone conversation.  Although we called in advance, they were  booked solid for the days we wanted to schedule.  Despite this, he worked with us on an acceptable date and instilled confidence.

When we arrived Dan was assigned to our trailer and worked diligently on the job until completion.  He was cheerful throughout and our questions and visits to the work bay to check on the progress could have driven a lesser man to the edge of nice.  He remained friendly,  patient and thorough.

Another technician, who specialized in  fiberglass, repaired some problems we had on the back bumper and did a beautiful job.

We were at the factory about 3  days or so and met many wonderful Excel owners who were returning from the winter season in the Texas Valley.  There were about 4 or 5 couples who waited for repairs during this week.  We had such a relaxed, good time in the Excel waiting room.  (Can you believe they have a washer and dryer for our convenience).  We took walks together and ate ice cream at the great little "old fashioned" drive in next door to Excel.  Real malts, shakes and sundaes.  They made a "Boston milkshake" which was a milkshake with a sundae on top.

  • February 2004 - I sent the following email  to Excel regarding service which was completed on our Excel fifthwheel the end of February, 04:

Dear Steve,
Although it has been over a month since we were up at the factory in Smith Center, we are writing to you now to thank you for the outstanding service we received from you and your team.  Everyone who serviced our 2002 Excel Limited RGW was considerate, efficient and professional.  We feel that Excel really stands behind their units.  You and your team looked for the best fix,  not the easy, or temporary fix.  You listened to our needs and meticulously followed up on each one.

With all of the horror stories we read about in the RV industry, we are so pleased to have purchased an Excel made by a company who still cares about customer service and building a better product.

Excel Peterson Industries #1 Dealer

RV Sales in Moriarty NM. We drove from Florida to buy our Excel from them after getting info via e-mail and telephone. How well did they do? Unbelievably 100% plus in all respects. Doing business with them is like doing business with family that really cares. I never heard "we can't do that" from them. They really performed above and beyond expectations and when it came time to settle up and I expected to pay for some extra work, Ralph said that it is just part of their service and there was no additional charge. WOW! It's no wonder RV Sales is the # 1 Excel Dealer in the country.
Oh, and you can't go wrong with Excel.

Recommend Fifthwheel for Winter camping?

Excel from Peterson Industries will perform very nicely. You will need adequate propane for serious winter use. Most propane companies will provide a 100 lb bottle and you buy their propane. There are many things you can/should do to minimize heat loss. We have spent a winter with our old Avion TT at 8500' in Granby CO at an RV Park. Maximum cold was 36 below zero and minus 20 was not unusual. It requires planning to make it work and not have cold related anxiety or disasters. We had a great time and skied about 35 days that winter.  Our Excel has much better insulation than the Avion did.

Advice on fifth wheels for Fulltiming?

Excel has 6'4" in Bedroom. Here is a link to their website with all specs. Excel by Peterson Ind  We love ours and they are great to deal with.   Oh, and I don't work for them, I just love a company who delivers what they promise.  Fulltime, coast to coast and up and down North and South, hot and cold. About 15,000 miles towed so far and it is great.
